Molloy College, Division of Nursing, and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center will be presenting the conference: "Clinical Trials and the Oncology Team: Understanding Steps to Increase Accruals to Trials A Physician and Patient Perspective" on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. The conference will be offered at no charge and will be held in the Hays Theatre in the Wilbur Arts Center on Molloy's Rockville Centre campus located at 1000 Hempstead Avenue, Rockville Centre, NY, 11571. Check-in and a light dinner will be at 6:00 p.m. and the program will start 6:30 p.m.
The conference is designed for cancer patients, cancer survivors and their families. However, this conference is open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend, including healthcare professionals and students. The lecture will cover the following topics: the importance of clinical trials and the steps that patients can take to make informed decisions; the difference between the phases of clinical trials; the ethical issues surrounding clinical trials and sorting out the myths from the facts about clinical trials and identifying resources and support .
The speakers will be Dr. Michael Postow, Assistant Attending Physician, Melanoma-Sarcoma Oncology Service, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Mary Elizabeth Williams a senior staff writer for Salon.com.
Although the conference and the dinner are offered at no charge, registration is required. Seating is limited and you should pre-register for the conference by October 11th.
